Dr. Fabio Angeli is an Investigator and co-responsible for planning and management of mono-centre and multi-centre Clinical Studies on Cardiovascular Drugs. Author of more than 200 scientific works on cardiovascular disease, diabetes and hypertension (including original articles, meta-analyses, reviews, commentaries and abstracts) published in leading journals including The Lancet, Circulation, J Am Coll Cardiol, Hypertension, Am J Cardiol, Am J Hypertens and others (list of articles indexed by ISI Web of Knowledge enclosed). The topâ€Âranked article (Hypertension 2004) received 183 citations in the medical literature as of March 31, 2010. Several invited lectures held in Italy.

Dr. Fabio Angeli research interest include Cardiovascular risk assessment in patients with hypertension, diabetes, heart failure and coronary artery disease. Evaluation of cardiovascular treatment. Diagnosis and treatment of acute myocardial infarction.

Dr. Chen received his graduate education at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium. While there he started his research on gastrointestinal motility with a group of internationally renowned investigators in the Department of Medicine. Upon completing his PhD in 1989, Dr. Chen moved to the United State where he accepted a faculty position at the University of Virginia, School of Medicine. In 1995, Dr. Chen moved to Baptist Medical Center of Oklahoma, where he established an Electrophysiology Laboratory and worked intensively on electrophysiology of the gut and gastrointestinal pacing. In June 1999, he joined the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Internal Medicine at UTMB and is currently a Professor of Medicine. Dr. Chen served as the first President of the International Electrogastrography Society, has given over 180 invited lectures in various countries, served on committees of national and international conferences, published one book, over 310 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and over 400 conference papers and abstracts. His research has been supported by over 100 grants from the federal government, state, private foundations and industries. Dr. Chen has filed or awarded more than 20 patent applications. Dr. Chen is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and a member of various professional societies in medicine and biomedical engineering. Dr. Chen serves as a council member of American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society and a Board Member of North American Neurodumulation Society.

Dr. Chen research interest include physiology and pathophysiology of gastrointestinal motility as well as obesity and diabetes. Specific research topics include clinical gastrointestinal motility studies and electrical therapies (gastrointestinal electrical stimulation, spinal cord stimulation and vagal nerve stimulation) for functional gastrointestinal disorders, obesity and diabetes.

Dr. Mario Barbagallo is a Professor of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics and the Director of the Geriatric Unit in University of Palermo, Italy. Chairman of the IAGG-ER (International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics) clinical section and member of the superior council of the minister of health. He is the Director of the Geriatric Unit, Director of the Department of Emergent Pathologies, University Hospital and Director Post-graduate program in Geriatrics at University of Palermo, Italy. Author of more than 500 publications on Italian and International Journals and over 200 published abstracts. He received Ph.D. in Physiology, University of Parma and University of Rome. In 1991 he was in Italian Board of Internal Medicine: specialty in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Edward Y. Lee is an Assistant Professor of radiology at the Harvard Medical School, Mass, USA and the Childrens Hospital Boston, Mass, USA. He is currently a Chief of Thoracic Imaging Division. He received his A.B. and M.D. degrees from the University of Chicago, Ill, USA and his M.P.H. degree from the Harvard University, Mass, USA, followed by an internship at Harvard Medical Center (BIDMC/BWH/DFCI) and radiology residency at Mallincrodt Institute of Radiology/Washington University Medical Center. Lee, as a Chief Fellow, also completed a pediatric radiology fellowship at the Childrens Hospital Boston. The overarching goal of his academic career has been the application of non-invasive imaging modalities to improve the clinical care of pediatric patients with a variety of thoracic anomalies and abnormalities. In addition, Lee was awarded research grants from the Society for Pediatric Radiology (SPR), Association of University Radiologists and GE Health Care (GERRAF), and the Society of Thoracic Radiology (STR).

Dr. Edward Y. Lee research interest include primary research activities have focused upon the development and application of advanced CT and MRI imaging methods, aimed at improving diagnostic capabilities, therapeutic options and patient outcomes in children with various anomalies and abnormalities of the large airways, lungs and mediastinal vessels.

Antonio Simone Lagana was born in Reggio Calabria (Italy) on 8th May 1986. He is of Member of the "Italian Association of Endometriosis" Expert Panel , In-Training Member of the "Society for Reproductive Investigation", Regular Member of the "European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology", of the “International Society of Gynecological Endocrinology, of the “Italian Society of Gynecology of Childhood and Adolescence”, of the “Italian Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy” and of Giorgio Pardi Foundation’s professional research team. He got a Master of “gynaecological minimally invasive and robotic surgery” (Medical Doctor, University of Pisa). His research interests are: Endometriosis, Reproductive Immunology, T cell subsets, Chronic Pelvic Pain, Organogenesis and Genetic of Mullerian-Derived Structures, Gynecological Endocrinology, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Laparoscopy, Hysteroscopy. He is author of many papers published in national and international peer-reviewed journals, and his presence is often requested as Invited Speaker in international congresses.

Dr. Kenneth Maiese is a physician-scientist who has been fortunate to receive international recognition with outstanding research honors, teaching awards and election to America′s Top Physicians and top Doctors as well as serving as Professor and Chair of Neurology and Neurosciences (UMDNJ) and Chief of Cellular and Molecular Cerebral Ischemia at Wayne State University. His investigations translate basic science into successful therapeutic treatments for conditions such as cancer, metabolic disorders, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke and Alzheimer′s disease. He is a top cited author with continuous funding from the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, the Bugher Foundation, Johnson and Johnson Focused Giving Award, and the NIH. Dr. Maiese holds several patents, has over 280 publications and has authored 5 books. Dr. Maiese serves as the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor or editorial board member for more than 55 journals as well as on multiple executive committees, technology panels and scientific advisory councils.

Dr. Takeshi Kinoshita is an Assistant Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery, Shiga University of Medical Science. Major research interets include Off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery, Mitral valve repair, Clinical and basic research on arterial grafts and postoperative atrial fibrillation.

Dr. Ulrich Mahlknecht was a scholar within a Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft young investigator excellence research program (Emmy Noether-Program). His research was later also supported by the Deutsche José Carreras Leukemia Foundation. In 2007 Ulrich Mahlknecht became a full professor of medicine at the Saarland University, where he is currently head of the Division of Immunotherapy and Gene Therapy within the Department of Internal Medicine. Ulrich Mahlknecht is president of the Clinical Epigenetics Society (CLEPSO), a non-for-profit international organization, which supports basic, translational and clinical research within the field of epigenetics. In 2009 Ulrich Mahlknecht founded and became editor-in-chief of the Clinical Epigenetics journal.

Dr. Leila Kheirandish-Gozal is currently the director of clinical sleep research in the Section of Pediatric Sleep Medicine at the University of Chicago. She has extensively published over 80 papers in prestigious peer reviewed journals and has acquired extramural funds from industry through investigator-initiated projects as well as from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She has been an invited speaker at multiple national and international meetings and has collaborations with other investigators around the world. She is an associate editor for Frontiers in Chronobioneurology and Sleep Medicine and a member of the editorial board for the journals of Sleep Medicine and Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine. She is also a program committee member of the Assembly on Sleep and Respiratory Neurobiology of the American Thoracic Society as well as a steering committee member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Leila Kheirandish-Gozal research interest include Explore changes in the systemic vasculature that may reflect morbid consequences of sleep disorders in children as well as the presence of rare gene variants that may shed light into mechanistic determinants of sleep apnea in children.

Dr. Man-Fung Yuen is the Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong. He is also serving as Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong. He obtained his MBBS in 1992, MD with Sir Patrick Manson Gold Medal in 2001, and PhD in 2005. With his outstanding academic achievements, he has received several prestigious awards including the Outstanding Young Researcher Award in 2005 and Outstanding Researcher Award in 2010 by The University of Hong Kong, the JGH Emerging Leader Lectureship Award (as the first awardee) in 2006 by 4 major Asia Pacific Gastroenterology and Hepatology associations and the Winner of Young Scientist Award (as the first awardee) in 2008 by the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) – Scopus. He is ranked in the upper tier (top 14%) of the top 1% scientists in clinical medicine globally by the ISI Web of Knowledge. The H-index for his publications was 44 according to Scopus.He is the author of 249 research papers published in various international journals. He is now leading a team of more than 10 members including clinical doctors, research assistant professors, post-doctoral fellows, postgraduates, laboratory technicians and research assistants.

Dr. Man-Fung Yuen research interests include the prevention, natural history, molecular virology and treatment of chronic hepatitis B and C, including treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Dr. Zheng, Song Guo received his Ph.D from French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. His honours include Young Cancer Research Award-Attendance at ECCO-8 in Paris, Outstanding Youth Scientist Award from National Natural Science Foundation of China, Immunology Award from International Congress of Immunology.

Development and function of TGF-ß-induced CD4+Foxp3+ regulatory T cells, Characterization of the molecular mechanism(s) of differentiation and maintenance of iTregs, identification of stability of iTregs in inflammatory condition. Identifying that all-trans retinoic acid primed natural Tregs (nTregs) restored their stability in the inflammatory condition.

After completing his postdoctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine in 2002, Dr. Xuefeng Xia joined the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston as an instructor. Dr. Xia was appointed to assistant professor of medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2006. He was appointed assistant member at the Houston Methodist Research Institute in 2008. Dr. Xia's research projects focus on liver and kidney disease function and disease states, and span the Genomic Medicine and Diabetes & Metabolic Disease research programs at the Research Institute. Dr. Xia is also a member of American Gastroenterology Association and The Endocrine Society.
